Ahh the almighty dips.
We all know that it’s one of the best exercises you can do to develop your triceps and chest. It’s one of my favorite compound movements and has always been a staple in my workout routines.
Here’s a simple trick you can do when performing the exercise in order to target your chest more than your triceps. It’s something I wish I knew when I first started working out, and there’s no extra equipment necessary nor is there any need for magic powers.
It’s just a simple tweak in the form.
All you have to do is keep a slight lean forward with your upper body, and let your elbows flare out to the side a tad bit. This way, your chest muscles will be stretched out at the bottom of the exercise.
For a tricep focus, just try to stay upright and keep your elbows close to your body as opposed to the chest version.
One thing to keep in mind: the dips exercise is very strenuous on the anterior delts. Make sure you have properly warmed up your shoulders before doing the exercise (or before any of your workouts for that matter).
