Product: MyoFusion Priobiotic Series by Gaspari Nutrition (Milk Chocolate flavor)
Category: Protein Powder
Price: Retails at $86 for 5lb tub ($49.99 at Bodybuilding.com)
I recently got my hands on a sample bag of Gaspari Nutrition’s MyoFusion Probiotic Series, and since I haven’t done a supplement review lately here’s a quick one on one of the top-selling protein powders on the market.
First of all, let me start off by saying that this is the Probiotic Series of the MyoFusion product line. The main difference between the Probiotic Series and the original formula is that this one includes a probiotic ingredient called “Ganaden BC30″ that helps support digestive health and immune system function. More on that later.
Taste and Mix-ability
To start things off, let me just say that the experience I had with this protein powder was literally like I was drinking a chocolate milkshake. I don’t really care much for taste when it comes to supplements, but with protein powders it’s a huge deal for me. Why? Because I can’t drink them if they don’t taste good! I still remember hating everything about protein a few years ago because they all tasted like crap. It wasn’t until I started drinking Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Whey Gold Standard that my view on protein supplements totally changed, so knowing that Gaspari got things right with MyoFusion’s taste is a big plus.
And because MyoFusion is a protein blend, it has a really rich creamy texture to it. Even when mixed with water it was still very creamy. That’s why I definitely would recommend using a shaker cup or a blender when mixing up this drink. Don’t even bother using a spoon to stir in a cup unless you plan on sitting in the kitchen table for 20 minutes.
Ingredient Profile
Below is a list of the ingredient profile straight from the words of Gaspari Nutrition.
- Patented Ganeden BC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) Probiotic to support immune system function and digestive health
- Features Whey Protein Concentrate, Brown Rice Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Casein Milk Protein Isolate, Egg Albumin, and fast acting Whey Protein Hydrolysate
- Over 9 grams of essential Amino Acids (EAAs)
- 24 grams of protein per scoop
- Gluten- and Aspartame-free formula
Like I said earlier, there’s really nothing special with this product unless you’re a health enthusiast. It’s just like any other protein blend. But if you’re someone who eats a lot of yogurt, for example, just because of its digestive and immune health benefits from the probiotics then this is for you. You can get the same benefits but with added protein (24g per serving).
In addition to that, all of their flavors for the Probiotic Series are artificial color-free and gluten-free. That’s another thing that differentiates this from the original MyoFusion.
Price
The MSRP for the 5lb tub of the product is $86.50, but you can get it at BodyBuilding.com for only $49.99. At about 58 total servings, that’s not a bad price in my opinion. Compared to the original MyoFusion ($53 for 63 servings), the price per serving actually comes out pretty damn close. If you’re looking to get a protein blend, I’d definitely go with the Probiotic Series over the original formula just because of the added “health benefits” for almost the same exact price per serving.
Overall Grade: 3.5/5
I’ve tried other protein blends before and to be honest, this is one of the best ones I’ve tried. I’m not really a fan of Gaspari Nutrition because they tend to overhype almost all of their products, but the MyoFusion Probiotic Series is the one product from the company that I actually liked mainly because they are trying to appeal to the health freaks out there. That’s always a thumbs up for me.
Overall I’d give this product 3.5 out of 5. The only reason why I didn’t give it anything higher is because it’s made from Gaspari. So yes, I’m a little biased.
I love myofusion!
