If there’s one video that will teach you how to master the bench press, it’s this one.
From setup and proper form to common mistakes and tips on injury-prevention, it has it all in this 9-minute video featuring competitive powerlifter Dave Tate. The video pretty much sums up my 11 tips on how to increase your bench press strength plus some other tips, but it’s best to see it in action and on video. Even if you think that you’re Mr. Know-It-All and already know how to bench press properly, watch this video. I guarantee you that there’s something here that you did not know before.
Warning: The videos contains strong language. If it gets too offensive for you, refrain from watching!
Bench pressing is without question one of the most popular exercises used in modern day gyms to help build strength and size in the upper body. More often than not it is overused or performed incorrectly, leading to injury, poor posture, and/or severe imbalance between upper and lower body musculature giving way to the chicken leg phenomenon sported by many gym goers today. However if done as part of a well balanced programme that incorporates corrective exercise protocols that offset any negative effects of over pressing, it is a powerful exercise. My views on adopting the correct bench press techniques and avoiding the common errors are as follows http://lovefitnesseducation.com/2012/07/26/how-to-master-bench-press-technique/
