In business, less is more.
In economics, less is more.
In life, less is more.
And in fitness, less is more.
We call this the 80/20 rule (also known as Pareto’s Principle and the Law of the Vital Few). It states that 80% of effects come from 20% of the causes.
So in a business perspective: 80% of profits come from 20% of your customers, or 80% of sales come from 20% of products, or 80% of sales are made from 20% of the sales staff.
Since it can be perceived and applied in many different ways, let’s put it another way in terms of fitness — to get the results you want, you only need to do what’s optimal.
Want to get the most out of your workouts? Keep your sessions short (45-60 minutes) by focusing on the exercises that matter like the big compound exercises.
Want to save more money? Buy less supplements and only invest in the ones you actually need.
Want to shed more fat? Develop better eating habits and (slowly) eat less of the crap you’re currently eating.
Want to stay sane with your diet? Eat mostly whole foods that are high in nutrients, but have your favorite foods on a regular basis.
Some things in life are already complicated.
There’s no need to complicate it even more.
