If you’re a fitness enthusiast who works out at the gym on a regular basis to try and build muscle or lose fat, chances are that you’re taking some supplements to help you achieve your goals. But there’s also a chance that you’re also not cycling your supplements.
Whenever you take supplements that are high in stimulants, whether they’re fat loss supplements or energy boosters, it’s important to always cycle them. By cycling, I’m talking about taking a few weeks off from them. The human body tends to adapt to the ingredients that are in these products and you end up adding higher dosages to reap the benefits. That’s why, for example, when you’re taking a pre-workout supplement you notice that your body gets used to them which is why you end up taking more servings. Some companies tell you to take a 1-2 week break off of their products on the labels, but there are some that don’t because it’s part of their business; the faster you use their products, the more you’ll be buying in such a short period of time.
Additionally, cycling your supplements is the best way to break through a plateau. For instance, if your using a fat burner that includes a lot of caffeine and your body plateaus take a 1-2 week break every 4-6 weeks. The next time you start taking it againyou’ll burn fat faster than ever. Keep in mind though that not all supplements are the same. Make sure to read the labels carefully and do some research online if you need to. Also, cycling doesn’t apply to all supplements like protein powder. Although it might be a supplement, protein powder is just…well, protein powder. Protein is something that your body needs each and every day. There’s no need to cycle it. The same goes for multi-vitamins, fish oils, etc.
